Kompong Cham Pepper Enjoys Healthy Trade in Thailand
Though less well-known than Kampot pepper, the price of Kompong Cham province pepper has increased by 44 percent from last year and is developing a following in Thailand, farmers and vendors said. With a total of 906 hectares of land dedicated to cultivating pepper in Kompong Cham, the province is the country’s largest producer of pepper corns, and a single hectare can yield about 8 tons of good quality pepper, said U Tainghy, an agronomist officer at the provincial agricultural department.
